Are you in need of a makeover? If you are, it’s okay. What do you feel you need to makeover most? Is it your career, your health, your wardrobe, your apartment – or maybe you need to makeover your whole life in general. Makeovers in any aspect are really good for us. It’s a way to refresh and renew our spirits. I hope you understand what I mean by making over your life. I mean changing the way you do things. It’s time to start eating better, saving more and dressing like the confident person you are.

What part of your life needs a makeover?

Change your life with these great tips!

  1. Eat Better – This first step will make you feel almost instantly better. You’ll have more energy, sleep better, and have more clarity of mind to tackle daily tasks and problems. Drink only water, not caffeinated sodas or high sugar juices.
  2. Get Organized - They say that a cluttered house is a cluttered mind. Nothing can keep you from getting on with accomplishing your goals like having a huge disorganized mess all around you. The good news, though, is that procrastination ends by simply starting one simple task.
  3. Start Moving - You may lose weight; you may not, but get your blood flowing by taking a walk everyday.
  4. Get out of Debt - Suffocating under a mountain of debt is debilitating, I know, but there is no better time than today to start acting to get out of it. Stop spending on unnecessary luxuries like that $1 soda at the machine.
  5. Make More Money - Never be content with the status quo. You should always have your resume up to date and in the hands of potential new employers and headhunters. Even a lateral move can mean a huge salary jump.
  6. Fight for a Cause - We all needs substance and relationships. Volunteering to help a good cause not only will give you something that’s good for your soul, it probably will lead to new fulfilling friendships.
  7. Final Note - If you’re looking to change your life, please know that it is possible to make a positive change. Not everyone around you will be positive. Sometimes people are like crabs; when they see one in the bunch climbing up; they all try to pull him back down.

Pack Better for Work

Posted on August 4, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Whether you grab a cab, walk, ride a bike, or drive to work, getting your gear there with you is definitely an important

Chrome Bags

Chrome Buckle

task.  Of course, you want to find the most comfortable way of getting it there with you, and if it’s fashionable, even better.  Here are a few bags that I have owned, or been able to test out in the past.  I have walked around the city with them and I have taken them with me to work on my bike.  They’re great for walking to a cafe from The Juliana for a little extra weekend work, even though I like to avoid bringing anything home with me.  Here are my top 3 bags to travel around Hoboken with.

  1. Chrome - noted for their safety-belt buckle.  This bag is perfect for the biking commuter.  It seems to fit perfectly on my back.  They also have the most sizes, colors, and pattern choices of the 3 on this list.  This bag calls to the hipster in all of us.
  2. Malcolm Frontier – “The Diplomat 15″ is perfect for everything.  It’s a better fit for those who wear suits to work but don’t want to look like a bunch of stiffs from IBM.
  3. Patagonia - The Patagonia “Half Mass” wass the perfect fit for my Macbook Pro.  It was also great for riding around town with.  This is a brand I trust when it comes to spending time outdoors in the untamed land.  I would have to assume that my Patagonia “Half Mass” will be able to survive the rugged city as well.

Have any suggestions for helping us get our gear to work or around town?  Leave a comment.

Looking for a huge variety of delicious options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner?  Look no further than Lisa’s Italian Deli.

Lisa's Italian Deli

It’s practically a steal for what you get.  I happen to be a sandwich man, myself, so Lisa’s Deli is like a slice of heaven to me.  Between the hot Meatball with Parmesan and the Reuben Pastrami, there isn’t much competition to be had around town.  Whether you need a break from work, or a lunch break from The Juliana pool, Lisa’s Italian Deli is the perfect spot for refueling for the rest of the day at the office or your apartment.

This could get a little messy as 42 Hudson county restaurants participate in Hudson Restaurant Week.  Fourteen of these restaurants are in Hoboken.  Restaurant week is great for those of us looking for a great deal on some of Hoboken’s favorite food spots.  Today, July 26th, marks the beginning of the “week” and it goes all the way until August 6th.  If you have never been, get ready for an incredibility tasty experience in Hoboken.  Most restaurants will be offering a 3 or 4 course meal prix-fixe menu for lunch and dinner.  The menus will show off the selections which the restaurant is most proud of.  Arthur’s Tavern, for example, has an awesome four course dinner menu which includes a soup, salad, main course, and dessert for $25.

Make sure you look up the restaurant you wish to try to make sure they are offering restaurant week deals on the day you want to go.  Like Arthur’s, some choose to keep the sweet deals to Monday through Friday.  Be sure to check out this fun dining experience around The Juliana apartments and let us know which place has the best eats!
